Released on World Elephant Day, August 12th, "Ganesha" is a charity project to raise funds and awareness for the protection of our incredible elephants, endangered worldwide. 100% of all proceeds go directly to helping elephants via World Animal Protection US, an official partner in this release: Worldanimalprotection.us.org

Premier Indian illustrator, Archan Nair, created the all-original, beautiful depiction of Ganesha specifically for this project. The Hindu elephant god, Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts, sciences, intellect and wisdom.

The music itself centers around recordings of elephant vocalizations, pitched to the key of the track, elephant footsteps timed to the beat, and three Ganesha mantras, provided by Srikalogy, with additional vocals by Laura Fay Lewis and Alokah Bear. Fellow producer Pericles provided many of the percussive and bass sounds to draw from as well. A background field recording of African savannah runs throughout the entire track.

Downloads include two additional songs; an ambient piece titled "Deep Time" that spans over 10 minutes, intended for contemplation and meditation, and a hidden instrumental edit of "Ganesha", included exclusively in the download.

In 2012 alone, an estimated 15,000 African elephants perished due to poaching for ivory, a material which could easily be replaced by more sustainable sources to create carvings, art and products. This project is meant to show how we can still create beautiful works inspired by these magnificent beings, in ways that do not endanger or harm them, but instead provide the help and support they need so much at this time.
